I’m writing this in the midst of a two-week trip to Sri Lanka for:
Podcast Production
Former BBC business manager Tanya Warnakulasuriya and I are producing 10 podcast episodes for share with the world in September.
I finished the first draft of the novel ahead of schedule, on April 28, and am now working on the second draft. The first draft really forms the bones and foundation of the story, but the second draft is all about bringing out the color, vividness, and subtext. Again, I’m learning as I go, and referring to the following resources to form my own editing process:
1. Story by Robert McKee – scene analysis, scene structure
2. Techniques of the Selling Writer by Dwight Swain – polishing units within each scene
3. Margie Lawson’s lectures on deep editing and emotions.
Other Projects
Continuing to have a lot of fun researching and curating for @Wonderlust.SriLanka and update my own @Udhara profile with perspectives and reflections on life. I’m also working with Tanya and a couple of creative souls in the early stages of a documentary idea. If anyone reading this has knowledge on funding documentaries in Australia and New South Wales, please email me on udhara@me.com. If anyone would like to know more and potentially collaborate, please get in touch.
